I found this one in my nostalgia box. Back in 2004 I played guitar in a band from Setúbal, and this footage — shot by friends, with picture and sound that leave a lot to be desired — is from a gig in Sesimbra, Portugal. The tune is “Surfing with the Alien” by the great Joe Satriani, who was, and still is, a huge inspiration for my technique.
Some 15 kilos lighter :) and with my dear old Ibanez badly out of intonation, I did the best I could. Today I can spot countless mistakes, but what stays with me is the good time we had and the joy of a bunch of kids full of drive.
And of course, right at the start you can hear a classic: someone in the crowd shouts “toca aquela!” — “play that one!”. I hope whoever said it wasn’t disappointed. :)
